Is it just me...

...or do other crafters go to great lengths when they are in full crafting mode? At 9 PM this evening I decided to give myself 1 hour of crocheting. This time limit is due to the fact that I have a ton of reading to do and not very much time to do it in. It is now 11:30 PM and I have only just finished this.....

....one of Lucy's fabulous decorations (pattern found here). Now this manic crafting session wasn't due to the pattern being difficult - Lucy has a real knack for explaining things clearly. Oh no. This lengthy avoiding.doing.any.work marathon was down to buttons. I could not for the life of me find my buttons. Draws were pulled out, baskets were searched and sofas were looked under. Nope. They have grown legs and walked out. Okay, so perhaps normal people would just give up after five minutes and grab some more the following day/week/whatever. I, on the other hand, went into full meltdown mode. I simply MUST have a button to finish my decoration or the earth MIGHT just stop spinning.

So in order to avoid any Earth stopping catastrophes I raided my wardrobe and found a spare button on an old shirt. Disaster avoided. However I have lost three hours (now) of reading time and am thinking I may have to get up super early tomorrow to recover those hours I had allocated to sensible stuff  and lost to crafty madness.

Before I go I do have to say this pattern from Lucy at Attic24 is sooooooo very easy (just make sure you have buttons, beads and stuffing to hand!) and really effective. I have no intention of using mine as a Christmas decorations, I love them so much they are going to stay all year round. Next on the list are the stars......but that my lovelies is for another day.

P.S I am actually going to post this in the morning because the lighting in this house is terrible so I can't get a decent picture of the decoration. But as I have spent half the night button searching I will not have time to retype this. Hope you have a great Monday!

I totally understand you having to find a button. I would have done the same thing and if I hadn't been able to find one, I would have been really CROSS. When you are on a mission, the mission is to complete the mission, right? :-) Your decoration is gorgeous and Lucy has the most gorgeous patterns. I'm planning on taking some materials to do some at the beach house. Oh bliss. I hope you get your reading done.

Hi Terrie
How lovley to visit with you, your blog is wonderful!!
Your dec is beeeautiful and yes of course i totally get the button thing. I was the same with the beads, ohmylord I had a huge hissy fit when my lovely glass beads were too small to thread on the yarn, then it took me an age to locate LL's plastic beads, lots of cuss words I can tell you!

I read you previous post with a knowing nod, you hit the nail on the head there, so much pressure at times to be everything to everyone. My house is a complete tip, I usually ignore the housework in favour of crafting/going out with Little B.

Sending lots of love to you, been a pleasure stopping by your little spot

It is NOT just you! I say the same thing to myself and then I figure...well, since I finished a WIP, and it's a little sooner than I thought I'll just start this hat for my daughter, then before I know it it's 3 hours later and I've been lost in creative mode. lol! I can totally relate. I love the decoration, it is cute and the colors are great.
